President’s Message
Five years ago, a handful of bold, brilliant Black women lawyers stood in purpose and planted a seed, and today, we’re standing in the shade of what they built. Inspired by the legacy of the Honorable Sheree Davis Cunningham, the first Black woman county court judge in Palm Beach County, this Association was born from sisterhood and the belief that we rise highest when we rise together.
As your 2025–2026 President, I don’t take this moment lightly. I believe leadership is service, and I am here to serve with purpose. This year, under the theme “Rooted in Legacy, Leading with Purpose,” we are moving with intention:
- Hosting CLEs that speak to the whole woman, especially around financial empowerment
- Giving back through Back-to-School drives that support our community
- Celebrating our legacy at our 5th Anniversary Gala
- Stepping into power with our Washington, D.C. US Supreme Court admission trip
- Creating space for healing and connection with Purple Table Talks
- And expanding our vision globally with our CLE Abroad initiative
SDCBWLA isn’t just another bar association. We’re a safe space and a force, where your story matters, your voice is heard, and your presence is celebrated. Here, we don’t just network, we nurture. We don’t just show up, we build up. We believe in pouring into each other, because when Black women lawyers thrive, justice shifts.
If you’re wondering where you fit in, the answer is right here. Join a committee. Show up at the next event. Say yes to mentoring. Be present. Be bold. Be rooted.
Let’s rise together and shape what’s next.
Warmly,
J. Samantha Vacciana, Esq.
